Our Success Stories

We've had the absolute pleasure to work with so many wonderful people and we are honored to watch both them and their dogs become the best versions of themselves as they grow together through our programs.
We called Tim due to some dog - to dog aggression issues with both of our wheatens, but mainly our male wheaten. He was recommend by a friend who had seen great results with her dog. After our initial consultation we decided that we really liked Tim and signed up for a six week program. After 6 weeks I can say that we are thrilled with the results so far. Leash walking on the bike path has become much more pleasurable. The dogs walk right beside us and Tim’s guidance has helped us deal with issues as they arise. Tim’s focus is on positive reinforcement, but he also showed us that it is important for our dogs to know who is in charge and to let them know when they make a mistake, so that they can learn from it. We also noticed that our dogs are much more attuned to us while walking now. They keep looking up to see if they are doing well. It certainly showed us that good dog training created a stronger bond between the dog and the human. We are also thrilled with the “Place” command that we were taught. Now when visitors or strangers come up to the house, we can tell the dogs to go to “Place” and the usual barking and jumping immediately stops as soon as they get to place. We would highly recommend Tim for anyone who has a dog and wants some solid training.""

"We are parents to a 7 year old standard poodle and just became new parents to a puppy male poodle we named Louie. With Morgan well settled into her routine we had forgotten how hard it is to have a puppy. We called on Tim to guide us. We never did formal training for Morgan but we wanted to set the stage for success for Louie. When I reached out for trainers Tim from the Guiding Leash was the first to respond - a great start since that is a very important quality to me in any service provider I hire. I liked him immediately. Right from the first email he was full of information and enthusiasm. That never changed from our first email to our last lesson. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his training and all things animals. Very impressive. He was able to successfully guide us through the perils of early crate training (Tim even took a late night panic text from me when Louie had an accident early on and guided me through his whining and crying in the crate). In fact Tim was always generous with his time and information - after every lesson which in and of itself was packed with tips and training, he would send an informative summary and links to helpful videos. He really sets you up to succeed. I would whole heartedly recommend him to train your dog or for any other animal behavioral issues. Our time with Tim ended today and we are thrilled at Louie's progress and what he has learned. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Carolyn, Neal, Morgan and especially Louie! He would thank you himself but he is on Place right now and can't be disturbed"

"One of the things that sets Tim apart from other dog trainers, is his ability to not only train dogs; but people as well. He has an exceptional talent for teaching owners the skills they need to succeed with their dogs. He has a thorough understanding of canine behavior, learning theory, and behavior modification-- as well as dog sports, tricks, and obedience. I recommend his training programs 110%."

"Only good things to say about my experience with The Guiding Leash. This training has not only helped train my dogs so that they can be maintained in a reliable, healthier way, but has also trained me by giving me the tools to form a more engaged relationship with my dogs for years to come."

"My dog, Nala, started training with Tim when she was just around 12 weeks old. I didn’t know what to expect from one-on-one training, but was instantly surprised that this was going to be more than just simple training, especially for a dog as young as mine. Tim presented all the information in a logical and simple way, which made it easy to understand for someone like myself, who had no knowledge of anything regarding dog training to understand and implement at home. Nala was able to easily pick up on what she was being taught and was always more than enthusiastic to do it again. This made for an enjoyable experience for both myself and my puppy. We continued the training at home, and definitely saw a difference between Nala and other dogs. When we recently went on vacation, we left Nala with a friend, who did not have anything negative to say about her. When we returned home, our friend could not stop saying how Nala was the best trained puppy she’d ever seen, and how they would take her again in a heartbeat. She was telling us that friends who had visited her house during the time we were away could also not stop saying how well behaved she was. Our experience with Tim and his training regiment was not what we had expected, but resulted in a much better trained dog than we ever could have imagined in such a short amount of time."

"I don't know even where to begin to express how grateful we were to have found Tim!! We reached out to him because we were in desperate need of help with our little dog Louie. He is a 3 year old chihuahua/dachshund mix. He had a barking problem and a serious issue with leash walking. He liked to lunge at anything that moved and occasionally nipped at people. (Including Tim!) He would mush like a sled dog and continuously rip the pads open on his poor little paws. After just the FIRST LESSON we noticed a difference! Tim gave us the tools we needed to be able to have stress free walks with Louie!! He no longer mushes and walks right beside us. What a difference!! He also taught us how to calm Louie (and his sister) down when the doorbell rings and people come in the house. We will continue practicing everything Tim has taught us because we know it will work wonders! We have total faith in his technique! Tim is an amazing person and you can tell that he truly LOVES what he does. We were so sad when our lessons came to an end! Our Tuesday nights won't be the same anymore! We recommend Tim to the fullest! We promise you will not be disappointed!!"

"Do yourself a favor and schedule a consultation with Tim. Shoot, or just give him a phone call! Talk to the guy at all and you'll be convinced that he's the trainer for you. He's so passionate about sharing his knowledge, and wow he has a lot of knowledge. Every step of the way, Tim is sending recap emails to make sure you know exactly where you are with lessons and in the training process. You'll always be able to look back at the reminders Tim's sent your way and what's next. Every lesson is full of information but fun somehow? But Tim is quick to tell you that he knows there's a lot to remember, thus the recap emails. At no point in the process do you feel confused or alone. Tim's always there to guide you along. With Tim there is always communication. I can almost guarantee you won't be able to find anyone else as dedicated as Tim. Does this guy even take a day off?"
