Forming a plan, what you should know

What's the difference between the Stay and Train Programs and the Private Lesson Programs?

Advantages to Stay and Train:
  • Your dog will receive training sessions multiple times a day throughout the day.
  • Your dog will have a completely structured lifestyle to ensure complete and total consistency.
  • Your dog will live with me and my personal dogs where they will be exposed to challenging distractions regularly ensuring they progress to a high level of obedience.
  • Progress is made much more quickly than from private lessons.
  • Less mistakes made through the training process.
  • The program ends with a comprehensive go-home session to transfer all skills and obedience over to the owner.

Advantages to Private Lessons:
  • Your dog will receive training in their natural environment, where they currently struggle.
  • You and your dog get to learn together as you go through the training process together.
  • Lessons can be a fun way to play and deepen the bond with your dog.

What does a Stay and Train entail?

With all Stay and Train Programs, you will get a comprehensive go-home lesson between 1 - 2 hours long where we will review all of your dog's commands, how to maintain them and go over any troubleshooting scenarios. Depending on the length of your Stay and Train, you will also receive a certain number of follow-up sessions to help ensure the continued success of you and your dog. You will also receive a comprehensive homework outline as well as extensive email and video support.

Where are the private lessons held?

Private Lessons are conducted at the owners home initially and then can be done in real-world public settings as your dog becomes ready to face bigger and bigger challenges!

What does a typical private lesson consist of?

The average private lesson is between an hour to an hour and fifteen minutes long. We will generally be introducing 1-2 commands per lesson and reviewing and improving previously taught commands.

Are there any preparations I should make for our lessons?

Whenever possible, I prefer to use the dogs daily food for training rather than treats. This can build a more meaningful bond rather than food. For lessons that occur close to normal feeding times, I strongly recommend you withhold that meal so that we can use that food for training instead!

Who should be present for our lessons?

When it comes to lessons, the more the merrier! I do prefer as much of the family to be present for the first and especially the final lesson but I provide comprehensive summaries after each lesson with pertinent video to help ensure that we are all staying on the same page!

How frequent are private lessons?

I prefer to space each private lesson one week apart, this ensures that both you and your dog have sufficient time to practice the material before we add in the next stage and ramp things up with more commands!
